![]() ![]() Spike and Julia are based on Harlock and Maya. The ending is literally about Spike's soul ascending to heaven after he has woken from his bad dream (his life without Julia) and has awoken into the dream he always wanted (his life with Julia). This was confirmed by transcendental elements within the narrative that speak of a greater truth that goes beyond an earthly reality, by the music which is an essential part of the story telling apparatus, and by the official material that Sunrise released to go along with the anime. ![]() Spike truly loved Julia and that love was irrevocable. And he is able to predict Spike's imminent death in the scene directly following Julia's death. He is also able to tell Spike where Asimov will be and at what particular time. Laughing Bull foresees Spike's death being connected to Julia in session one. They make a point of letting us know that Spike's love is unchanging and unchangeable. Him dying is an appropriate act, not a senseless one.įeel free to ignore the clear subtext running throughout the entire show for a pedantic interpretation from supplementary material though, if it helps you Stan further for a miscast middle-aged man in an unneccessary, cash-in, spinoff. If Julia is literally one magical individual in billions, and not just that in Spike's lovesick mind, then it ruins the ending because it's no longer tragic. Hell, Jet is a constant example that it's painful but possible. The argument with Faye at the end is supposed to highlight that tragedy. The point of the story is he can't imagine that changing, even though it can and likely would with time. Unless the book is omniscient, or Spike knows the future, or has met every woman in existence, the feelings he has are just how he feels at the time. The point is, at that age, it's a pretty common feeling. I’d rather the right actor just play the role. His age is so fucking irrelevant, and in all honesty an older actor can probably bring a bit more of the weight and world weariness the role needs. It’s so fucking annoying, and just people jumping on the bandwagon as the majority of people complaining probably didn’t even know he was meant to be 27. Now people suddenly act like it’s a fucking crime that he’s being played by someone who isn’t 27. Spike’s age was never even said in the anime, it never factored into any storyline, and in all honesty it makes more sense for him to be older given the nature of his story and past.īack in the day most people were confused by it when they found out he was so young, and thought he was older. ![]() Suddenly everyone is obsessed with Spike’s age. 'Cowboy Bebop' Netflix Live Action Soundtrack To use the spoiler tag type the following (/spoiler) Pokémon, it is not.Welcome to reddit's foremost hub for all things Cowboy Bebop, the 1998 series created by Shin'ichirō Watanabe. Most episodes serve as self-contained stories-director Shinichirō Watanabe and screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto treated each installment as its own mini-movie-while gradually building out the characters' backstories and drawing out sophisticated thematic undercurrents. Along the way, they struggle to escape their past lives, grapple with ennui and existential crises, and narrowly escape death many times while dealing out plenty of carnage themselves. Set in 2071, the series follows the misadventures of a ragtag group of spacefaring bounty hunters-coolly detached "space cowboy" Spike Spiegel, tough but lovable ex-cop Jet Black, amnesiac drifter Faye Valentine, and eccentric teenage hacker Ed, plus a corgi named Ein-as they aimlessly wander a dystopian galaxy in search of criminals, money, and food. Ironically, Cowboy Bebop attained that status in no small part because it was like a lot of things American viewers had seen before, while also defying all expectations for a TV anime project. ![]()
